When Understanding Is Not Enough

1

You understand your patterns, but your body still reacts automatically

2

Stress, tension, or vigilance return even when life feels safe

3

You feel disconnected, numb, or unable to fully settle

4

Talking has helped, but something still feels unresolved

5

You want a gentle approach that does not require reliving everything

6

You are looking for lasting change that includes your whole body

Somatic healing begins by listening to what your body is already communicating

Your nervous system learned protective responses for a reason. Somatic healing does not force those responses away. Instead, we slow down, notice sensation, and help your system complete what it could not complete before. Over time, the body can release held activation and rediscover its capacity for regulation, connection, and ease.

What Is Somatic Healing?

Somatic healing is a body-based approach to personal growth and wellness. The word 'somatic' refers to the living body—not simply how the body looks, but how you experience sensation, movement, emotion, tension, breath, and safety from within.

Difficult or overwhelming experiences can leave the nervous system organized around protection. Even after the situation has passed, your body may continue to brace, shut down, stay alert, or prepare for something to go wrong. These patterns are not personal failures; they are intelligent survival responses that have not yet received enough support to settle.

In somatic healing sessions, we work with present-moment sensations in small, manageable amounts. Rather than pushing through discomfort or repeatedly retelling painful stories, we follow your body's pace and strengthen your capacity to move between activation and calm.

As your nervous system experiences more choice and support, old protective patterns can soften. Somatic healing may help you feel more grounded, connected, and at home in your body.

These sessions are somatic education, personal development, and wellness support. They are not psychotherapy, diagnosis, or medical treatment, and they do not replace care from a licensed mental health or medical professional.

Talk Therapy vs Somatic Healing

Talk Therapy

  • Top-down approach
  • "Tell me what happened"
  • Uses language/insight/narrative
  • Understands the "why" of patterns
  • Outcome: "I understand my trust issues now"

Somatic Experiencing®

  • Bottom-up approach
  • "What’s happening in the body right now?"
  • Works with sensation/impulse/movement
  • Changes the "how" of responses
  • Outcome: "My body feels more relaxed now"

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about somatic work and how I can help.

What is somatic healing?

Somatic healing is a body-based approach that works with sensation, movement, breath, and nervous system responses. It supports greater regulation and helps protective patterns soften at a pace your body can manage.

What happens during an online somatic healing session?

Sessions are gentle and conversational. We slow down, notice what is happening in your body, and follow sensations in small amounts. You remain in control, and you do not need to relive or retell every difficult experience.

Can somatic healing help if talking has not been enough?

Many people explore somatic healing because insight alone has not changed how their body reacts. Body-based work can complement what you already understand by working directly with the sensations and nervous system patterns underneath those reactions.

Do somatic healing sessions work online?

Yes. Somatic healing can work effectively online because the practice relies on awareness, guided attention, and nervous system regulation rather than physical touch. Many people appreciate doing this work from their own familiar environment.

Is somatic healing the same as psychotherapy?

No. I am not a licensed psychotherapist in the US. My sessions provide somatic education, personal development, and wellness support—not psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis, or medical treatment. If you need treatment for a mental health condition, please consult a licensed professional.

What are your fees for somatic healing sessions?

My fee is $175 per 60-minute session. Longer sessions are prorated. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale slots between $110 and $175—if cost is a barrier, please reach out. I don't accept insurance.
