Find Your Way Back to Life
Depression often involves a nervous system in shutdown. Somatic work gently helps you reconnect with vitality and engagement.
You're Not Alone
Do These Experiences Resonate?
Everything feels gray, flat, or meaningless
You've lost interest in things that used to bring joy
Getting out of bed feels like an enormous effort
You feel disconnected from yourself and others
The future seems hopeless or not worth thinking about
You go through the motions but don't feel alive
Depression isn't laziness or weakness—it's often the body's shutdown response
When the nervous system has been overwhelmed, it can go into conservation mode—shutting down energy, emotion, and engagement. Somatic work gently helps your system come back online.
Understanding
What is Depression?
Depression is often the body's freeze response extended over time. When overwhelming stress or trauma exceeds the nervous system's capacity to cope, it conserves energy by shutting down.
This shutdown affects everything: motivation, pleasure, connection, hope. It's not a choice or a character flaw—it's a physiological state that your body entered for survival reasons.
Traditional approaches often try to address depression through thoughts or medication. While both can help, they may not address the underlying nervous system pattern that keeps you stuck in shutdown.
In somatic work, we gently help your nervous system thaw from the freeze. We titrate activation carefully—too much too fast can be overwhelming—gradually restoring your capacity for energy, emotion, and engagement with life.

Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about somatic work and how I can help.
How is somatic work different from antidepressants?
Medication affects brain chemistry; somatic work addresses nervous system patterns. Many clients find them complementary. We don't recommend stopping medication without medical guidance.
I don't know why I'm depressed. Do I need to?
No. We work with how depression shows up in your body, not with finding a story or cause. Understanding may emerge, but it's not required for healing.
I've been depressed for years. Can it still change?
Yes. Even long-standing depression can shift when we address the underlying nervous system state. Your system remains capable of change.
What are your fees?
My fee is $175 per 60-minute session. Longer sessions are available and prorated accordingly. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale slots for individuals who need nervous system healing but face financial barriers. If cost is a concern, please reach out to discuss current availability. I don't accept insurance.
