PTSD: When Your Body Is Still Fighting a Battle That's Already Over
PTSD isn't a character flaw—it's your nervous system doing what it was trained to do. Through somatic work, you can teach your body that the danger has passed.
You're Not Alone
Do These Symptoms Feel Familiar?
Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories disrupt your life
You avoid places, people, or situations that remind you of the trauma
You feel constantly on edge, hypervigilant, or easily startled
Emotional numbness has replaced your ability to feel
Sleep feels impossible or is filled with disturbing dreams
You feel disconnected from yourself, others, or life in general
PTSD isn't a mental problem—it's a nervous system stuck in survival mode
Your body is still responding to a threat that has passed. Somatic work helps your nervous system complete its interrupted survival responses and finally recognize that you're safe now.
Understanding
What is PTSD?
PTSD occurs when overwhelming experiences leave your nervous system stuck in survival mode. Your body continues responding as if the danger is still present, even when you cognitively know it's over.
This isn't a weakness or a failure to 'move on.' It's your body doing exactly what it's designed to do—protecting you. The problem is that the protective response never completed.
Traditional talk therapy often struggles with PTSD because the trauma isn't stored in the thinking brain—it's stored in the body. Talking about what happened rarely changes how your body responds.
In somatic work, we help your body complete what it couldn't complete during the trauma. As these frozen survival responses finally discharge, your nervous system can update its assessment: the danger has passed. You are safe now.

Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about somatic work and how I can help.
Will I have to relive the trauma?
No. Somatic work processes trauma through the body, not through detailed recounting. We work with sensations and body responses, allowing healing without retraumatization.
How long does PTSD treatment take?
It varies by individual and the nature of the trauma. Many clients experience significant relief within 8-12 sessions, though complex trauma may take longer.
I've had PTSD for years. Can it still be healed?
Yes. The nervous system remains plastic throughout life. Even decades-old trauma can be processed and resolved with the right approach.
What are your fees?
My fee is $175 per 60-minute session. Longer sessions are available and prorated accordingly. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale slots for individuals who need nervous system healing but face financial barriers. If cost is a concern, please reach out to discuss current availability. I don't accept insurance.
