Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about somatic work and how I can help.

How long should grief take?

There's no timeline for grief. The idea of 'stages' and completion is misleading. Grief often becomes a lifelong companion that changes over time. We focus on your capacity to carry it, not on 'finishing' it.

My loss wasn't a death. Can you still help?

Absolutely. We grieve many losses: relationships, health, dreams, identity, homes, phases of life. All loss deserves acknowledgment and support.

I lost someone years ago and am still struggling. Is that normal?

Yes. Grief doesn't follow rules. Sometimes grief is delayed, complicated by circumstances, or triggered anew by life events. It's never too late to receive support.

Will therapy make me cry?

Possibly, but not necessarily. Tears are welcome but not required. Some people process grief through anger, numbness, or physical sensation. We follow your body's lead.

Can grief cause physical illness?

Yes. Grief affects the immune system, heart, and overall health. Working with grief somatically supports your physical as well as emotional wellbeing.
