You're Not Alone

Do These Patterns Sound Familiar?

1

You struggle to let people in, even when you want to

2

You constantly question others' motives or sincerity

3

You expect to be betrayed, abandoned, or let down

4

You test people repeatedly to see if they'll stay

5

You keep people at arm's length to avoid getting hurt

6

You have difficulty believing people when they say kind things

Trust issues aren't paranoia—they're learned protection

When past experiences taught your nervous system that people are dangerous, it learned to stay guarded. Somatic work helps your body gradually learn that trust can be safe again.

Understanding

What Are Trust Issues?

Trust issues develop when experiences—often in childhood—taught your nervous system that depending on others is risky. Betrayal, abandonment, inconsistency, or abuse wire your body to stay vigilant.

This isn't a character flaw or a choice to be difficult. It's your body protecting you from the kind of pain you experienced before. The walls you've built made sense at one point.

The problem is that these protective patterns can keep you isolated even when connection is available. Your nervous system can't tell the difference between past danger and present safety.

In somatic work, we help your body update its threat assessment. Through gradual, safe experiences of connection, your nervous system learns that trust can be rebuilded—not through forcing yourself to trust, but through your body genuinely feeling safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about somatic work and how I can help.

I've been hurt badly. Can I really learn to trust again?

Yes, but not by forcing yourself. We work with your body's protective responses, allowing trust to rebuild naturally as your nervous system experiences safety.

How is this different from just 'putting yourself out there'?

Forcing yourself to trust despite your body's signals often backfires. We work with your nervous system so that openness feels genuinely safe, not just cognitively decided.

What if my trust issues are justified—people have let me down?

Your experiences are real. We don't dismiss your history. We help you develop discernment while also expanding your capacity for the connections that are available.

What are your fees?

My fee is $175 per 60-minute session. Longer sessions are available and prorated accordingly. I reserve a limited number of sliding scale slots for individuals who need nervous system healing but face financial barriers. If cost is a concern, please reach out to discuss current availability. I don't accept insurance.
